There are many areas in a home, each with it’s own unique issues and insulation needs. Our experienced estimators can analyze each area of your home and recommend the best approach to insulate according to your specific circumstances.
Home Insulation Inspection
Why Does Insulation Require Inspection?
Insulation, like ventilation, often creates problems if it’s discovered that there is too little or too much insulation in the walls and ceilings of your home. If there is too much insulation present in the walls and ceilings, this can lessen the R-value just as the presence of too little can as well.
Insulation that is not properly backed with vapour barrier can create perfect conditions for the growth of mold and mildew. At Eco Insulation® we provide a no cost full Home Insulation Inspection designed to help you in determining your insulation requirements.
There are many areas in a home, each with its own unique issues and insulation needs that you might be completely unaware of. These unknown regions could be costing you a lot of additional money, comfort, not to mention wasting valuable energy. Our highly-trained estimators can analyze each area of your home and suggest the best approach for insulation, based on your unique circumstances. Ultimately in doing so, we will make your home as energy efficient as possible.
Inspection Process
In the event that your basement is not finished, we will carefully inspect the foundation walls to determine whether there is sufficient insulation. Then we will inspect the status of your attic, ceilings, exterior walls, and floor spaces to determine whether there is enough insulation and if it meets the indicated R-value in your area. According to The Ontario Building code, when there is higher R-value present in your insulation, your walls and roofs will have greater resistance to the transfer of heat.
Probable Issues that Affect R-value
- Insufficient insulation: gaps or “voids” present in insulation
- Compressed insulation
- Attic hatch missing insulation and weather stripping
- Blocked soffit vents
- Moisture
Correct installation of insulation is crucial. Regardless of the insulation being used, it needs to be installed properly to achieve its R-value. If your home insulation is moist, compressed or installed with gaps, performance will reduce considerably.
Replacing your current insulation with Spray Foam Insulation will ensure that even the tiniest cracks and openings are filled efficiently. Because Spray Foam Insulation expands once applied, as soon as it’s set, the shape will not alter or shrink in size. In turn, this virtually rids of any air movement through your exterior walls.
